Date: 8/29/2009
Welcome to North Atlanta Football League. The premiere league of North Georgia
The North Atlanta Football League (NAFL) serves the Northern Metro Atlanta region, . The NAFL is open to any team as long as they play with a youth association recognized by the NAFL. The NAFL's mission is to create a league that addresses the needs of each community we serve by providing an environment that embodies the following initiatives:
Meaningful game participation
Emphasizes fundamentals of the game
Provides fun-filled environment
Competitive atmosphere
Supports local area high school objectives
The heart and soul of the North Atlanta Football League is Player Participation. Hundreds of volunteers labor each week and throughout the year to provide a safe and reasonably level playing field for all of our Players. These Players work hard all season long to improve their skills, strength, and stamina. This effort culminates in an excitement of actually participating in a Game. The NAFL believes this excitement to be equally important at all levels of experience or ability. It is why we are all here!
The Player Participation Rule has been implemented by the NAFL Board to ensure each Player, regardless of experience or ability, is allowed to participate fully in NAFL sponsored games. At all competition levels this Rule requires that all Players on a certified roster has a starting position on either offense or defense for every game. Based upon the number of Players available on a given roster, some of the Players will play both offense and defense. Exceptions are for players with injuries, sickness or being disciplined during the game.
In the past, more traditional methods of monitoring minimum playing time for Players has failed. When the Players do not play they can become disillusioned with the experience and choose another endeavor for future seasons. Also, unless they are on the field in game situations, Players cannot appropriately develop their football skills and agilities or gain the deeper understanding of the game. Bottom line is that sitting on the bench is just not fun!
Therefore, the NAFL Participation Rule will become the foundation of our League and the expectation is full compliance with the intent of this Rule. The responsibility lies with every coach, administrator, and Association within the NAFL. Each coach must know, understand, and apply, the Participation Rule. Deviations are considered detrimental to the League and will be dealt with severely with sanctions levied against the team’s coaching staff and/or Association.
